6 Important Beginner Psychic Development Topics
Are you interested in learning more about psychic development? Don’t know where to
even begin? I knew most of my life that there was something more to those
idiosyncrasies that I was experiencing. Have a dream about someone, Bam! There they
are! Mention or think about someone you haven’t seen in a while and suddenly there’s a
call, text or email from them. Those moments when you just know something is going to
happen before it happens? Always looking at the clock when it’s a certain time? Oh, I
could go on and on but you get it. We all have it! You just need to pay attention to what
is happening in those moments, what are you thinking about, what is going on around
you. We get so caught up in our electronic lifestyles that we often forget to just stop,
listen and pay more attention.
When I had what I consider to be my ‘3rd Eye Opening’ Dream, I knew I just had to find
some type of mentor or class or someplace to learn more. Once I made the conscious
decision to find this, it somehow found me! I was so fortunate to meet an amazingly,
talented local psychic medium who invited me to join her study group! She offered
affordable monthly psychic study groups in her home and I am so humbled to have had
the opportunity to start my Mediumship journey with her. She is well known in my town
and I learned so many psychic topics from her monthly study groups. I feel the most
important thing she taught us was to be without ego and to practice with the utmost
respect for Spirit. I had no intention of becoming a medium and that just sort of
happened during various study groups. I remember thinking, I can’t do that! I was just
there for the psychic development stuff and when I realized what mediumship actually
was, seeing and communicating with spirits in my mind’s eye, it became easier for me to
do.

I also try to take classes at various places on different metaphysical topics and it leads
me to meet more interesting people and I’m always learning something new. I also love
telling my blog followers, friends or the new people I meet about what I have been
learning and it has lead me to create this list of beginning topics for psychic
development. I feel that these 6 topics are important building blocks to learning more
and I will offer suggestions for products from affliliate companies or my store,
www.myspirituallearningshop.com, so that you have a place of reference to start your
own development! In this article I have included some products from my store that I feel
go along with each topic that I personally use or found helpful when starting out.

1: Meditation:
Meditation is so important for me before I give a spirit reading. I need to let go of the day
to day things that I carry around with me. It was difficult for me at first to let my mind be
still. I’m such a multi-tasker that I felt like my brain was constantly going on fast forward
and it is really something to learn how to let it go! When I give a spirit reading, I am
allowing someone else to put thoughts or memories into my mind. I am literally
downloading them and if I am constantly thinking about what I need to get at the store,
errands I need to run, emails I need to send, etc. then I can’t possibly open my mind to
listen to someone else. Now, not everyone is going to be practicing mediumship in their
lives but meditation can be helpful for just about anyone. Have trouble sleeping? A
relaxing guided meditation can help you drift off into a peaceful sleep. Is your life
stressful? Try to incorporate just 10-15 minutes a day to quiet your mind. It’s amazing
the different ways your body and soul can benefit from a little ‘me time’. Think of it like
being on an airplane and they tell you that in case of emergency to put on your own
mask before you help others. Find just a few minutes a day to recharge your soul. You
deserve it!
2: Chakras:
I talk to people that have no idea what a chakra is or how important having them
balanced can be in their lives. There are seven chakras that are the spinning energy
forces that come from our bodies. Recently I’ve talked to friends and they might have
something going on in their lives and say, they just feel out of sync. I talk to them about
chakras, we check their chakras and it’s amazing how the chakras that are relative to
that part of their life is showing to be out of balance! Each chakra has characteristics
unique to the energy that serves them and they are color coded. There are several
ways to balance your chakras! I use my pendulum and ‘test’ the chakras to see which
way the pendulum swings. I have my pendulum charged to swing clockwise for ‘yes’ or
counterclockwise for ‘no’. I usually test each chakra to get an idea of how they are
doing. Some people get concerned and they ask, “Is there something wrong with me??”
Of course not! However when we look up the characteristics of each chakra they might
realize something in that area is a bit off. So what I do is I cleanse their chakras with a
piece of blue kyanite and I start at the root chakra and work my way up to the crown
chakra. I will make circles based on what intuitively ‘feels’ right. Then I may have them
lie down and I will place crystals that are charged for each particular chakra on them
and they will relax and lay there for several minutes. I’ve been told how relaxing this is
and then we test the chakras again with my pendulum and a majority of the time they
seem to be ‘clear’ and my pendulum swings clockwise! I have had a client tell me that
she sleeps better the nights that I have cleared her chakras!
3: Pendulum:
My Grandpa used his pendulum for so many things and I had no idea the power behind
it. He always had his pendulum on him! I sell many different kinds of pendulums in my
online shop. www.myspirituallearningshop.com and you just find one that works best for
you. I happen to LOVE rose quartz and the pendulum that I use right now is rose quartz.
One way I use my pendulum is that when someone tells me that they feel out of sync I
show them how I can test their chakras like I previously mentioned. Pendulums can also
be used to ask Yes or No questions, I make sure I program it by asking it to swing
clockwise for yes or counterclockwise for no answers. Just make sure you keep it out of
your own chakra energy field when you are asking questions. They can also be useful in
helping someone find something that is lost. Try it next time you lose your keys! Here
are a few suggestions of pendulums and this bookset also includes a pendulum so you
can learn more about it and you have one to try it out right away! Fun!
4: Crystals and Gems:
After taking a weekend course on crystals I was so intriqued by the healing
properties and energies hidden in crystals and gems! I learned how to use them to
help clear chakras. I learned how to use them in my day to day life. I keep amethyst
under my pillow because I have trouble sleeping and at times I have terrible dreams.
I keep selenite sticks under my bed because sometimes I am bothered by spirits
when I’m sleeping and selenite keeps negative energy away and brings in loving
white light. I also sell selenite lamps in my shop and I have a big beautiful piece that
lights up and I have it in my living room to bring in positive energy. I sell many
different crystals and gems and I carry some jewelry and I often wear my favorite
rose quartz pendant around my neck, near my heart chakra. I could go on and on
but that’s why this is an important topic. I even use crystals for meditation and
helping my spirit connections while doing mediumship.

5: Dreams:
Wow, my dreams tell me so much! My dreams have lead me to where I am, now.
Sometimes my dreams will scare me to death! I struggle with this topic because I am
such a light sleeper and I have always had such vivid dreams. I never know what I
should pay attention to and what is just a nonsense dream. I sell a dream book that is
incredibly detailed and gives meanings for almost any type of dream. This topic focuses
on dreams and what we can learn from them. I used to be so scared of my dreams and
I think if you really sit down and think about what they are about you can work through
many things in your life. I have dream visits from loved ones, I have dreams that I’m
working through problems or stresses and sometimes I have dreams that make no
sense to me! I think dreams are so important and you should pay attention to them and
try to understand what they are trying to tell you. I encourage you to keep a dream
journal and write down what you dream about.
6: Getting Rid of Negative Energy: Material- Sage stick and palo santo wood
I think this is an important topic because we encounter negative energy all the time
and many of us don’t even realize it! When you are working with psychic
development it’s important to know how to protect yourself against negative energy.
I am a HUGE fan of ‘Saging or Smudging’ and I have actually made this part of my
weekly Sunday cleaning routine. I started to research more on this Ancient Native
American practice and started noticing the benefits of smudging. I felt a difference in
the energy in my house. I tried some different types of sage and I’m happy to say
that I offer many types in my shop. I have come to really like the smell of palo santo
wood, which is referred to as holy wood. It has a nice sweet smell and not very
smoky. As a result I frequently have guests tell me that my house feels ‘very
comforting and inviting’. Bye, bye negative energy!
This is what I consider the ‘Beginner’s Toolbox’ full of information and resources
that I feel are the beginning steps to learning more about pyschic development.
I am sending love and blessings for you on your spiritual journey! I will continue to share
the things that I learn. Please stay tuned and thank you so much for reading about my
journey! As always, please let me know how you are doing on your journey and any
questions that you may have for me!
