My Spiritual Learning Journey
At this point in my Spiritual Learning journey, I have decided to focus on developing my
Mediumship skills. I took regular monthly classes for two years with a local professional
Medium and we practiced many different types of psychic development techniques. I
really enjoyed practicing Mediumship because of the immediate feedback from
someone, either they know who you are talking to and can validate the things you say
or it may come to them later. I am still always fascinated and excited to be giving
readings with accurate information.
I have many other topics that I’m learning more about such as crystal energy healing.
However I know that Mediumship takes time and focus so I made the commitment to
strengthening my skill and technique. It took some nudging from a friend who said, “I’m
coming over next week and you’re giving me a reading!” Now, I have done readings
here and there during class and outside of class for practice for friends for years but I
decided that I needed to commit to 2-3 readings per week. That has been life changing
for me. In addition to creating this blog site and my job as a teacher, I have been giving
readings for the past 2 years. I started out with a goal of giving 50 readings and now I
am getting referrals from those people that I have read. These are the things that I
have learned along the way in my Mediumship journey.

7 Things I Want My Client To Know Before a Reading With Me:
1.) In preparation for the reading, I ask my clients to have conversations with their
loved ones that they wish to hear from. Yes, you can speak out loud to your loved
ones or just in your head with your thoughts. They can hear you. It’s difficult for us to
understand but they do hear the things you say. Oftentimes people will have questions
for their loved ones or ask them to share something. Many times these things come up
in our readings, sometimes they don’t. Often people will bring a picture or an item with
them that has sentimental value towards someone they would like to hear from. This is
a great idea but keep in mind that ‘testing’ someone by asking them to tell what the
object is can break concentration and connection. It’s best to just see if it comes up and
if not in the end when we are finished with the messages from that person then you can
ask and I can try to probe. Chances are that you have been referred by someone and
so just trust that I (or other psychics) have abilities and the readings will go more
smoothly.
2.) I have learned that having a routine is best for me. Usually about 10-20
minutes before a reading I meditate. I listen to meditation music and I sit quietly and
speak to my spirit guides. I once took a class on spirit guides and learned that a
specific Mediumship guide helps me.

I imagine myself meeting this guide and I ask for her guidance in helping spirits come
through. I ask for messages to come from a place of love and peace. I ask that I ‘see’
images clearly, ‘hear’ messages clearly and ‘feel’ with accuracy. I have also taken
classes on crystals and there are some crystals that I hold while I meditate and while
giving a reading. Then I ask my Mediumship Guide and my Guardian Angels to watch
over me while I give the readings and keep me safe from any negative energies.
3.) When my client arrives I have them sit across from me and I give them pen and
paper. I explain to them the following:
Write down the things I say whether or not it makes sense in the moment. Many times
things come to us later. During my very first spirit reading that I received, I was so
overwhelmed with information and there had been much time that had passed that I
didn’t remember some of the things my Grandma was saying until later. This is very
typical. There are feelings and emotions that also get in the way of remembering so I
encourage my clients to write down as much as they can so they don’t forget what was
said and they have a record of it when sharing with other family or friends.

4.) I ask my clients to refrain from telling me stories while I’m reading. It may be
exciting because what I’m saying is taking them back to a memory but if they start
telling me about it then I start to fight with my mind about what are my thoughts and
what spirit is showing me. It can confuse me and may affect the flow of the reading. As
a new spirit comes through to me, I start to just spew out some words about things that I
am ‘seeing’. When I say ‘seeing’ I mean that I see or hear these things in my mind’s
eye. Usually it starts out as something the spirit liked such as drinking coffee or their
clothes or appearance. I ask people not to get too hung up on the appearance thing.
Keep in mind that spirits can show me themselves from different stages of their lives.
Just keep an open mind because once we establish who the person is then I can sort of
ride the energy wave and things seem to come much more clear and quickly. Write
down the things that I say and when you have an idea of who it is we are speaking with
then you can just say that you know who it is.
5.) Spirits may come through together. Sometimes a blend of spirits come through
together. Whenever I have had readings with my mentor, both of my Grandmothers
come through together. This is very common and I will have a client say, “Well, the first
thing you said reminds me of my Grandma and then then next thing you said was my
other Grandma!” So, what I do next is ask one to take a step back and allow me to
communicate with just one. One of my grandmothers is always SO excited to come
through that she is often the first one and is usually asked to step aside for a while after
her messages. This would be something typical of her personality while she was living.
6.) Expect the unexpected. Sometimes people pop in that we don’t expect or haven’t
thought of in a while. I ask people to talk to their spirits and when someone they didn’t
talk to comes through it can throw them off. So, we hope the spirits you want to
communicate with do come through but I can’t control spirit and someone else may
have a message for you or someone else. For example, I did a reading and the client
was expecting a family member to come through. I was describing someone and we
were both expecting it to be her father and when all these images were being shown to
me I realized it was someone that she used to work with. She lit up and said, “Oh my
goodness I know who it is!” It was surprising to her that this person showed up. During
another reading a teacher was expecting her family members and a woman was very
persistent and finally she realized it was her fourth grade teacher! This woman was very
special to her and she was the person that had inspired her to become a teacher as
well. So it is important to write things down and be open minded about who may be
coming through!
7.) This experience can be a roller coaster of emotions for the client and for
me. In my own particular readings I feel comforted knowing that my loved ones are
still with me, they still know current events going on in my life. They still love us from
the other side. Sometimes they tell us who is with them.

I had a dog for 15 years and when she was very sick I would tell her to look for my
Grandma when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I told her this often. I would also ‘talk’
to my Grandma and ask her to look out for my sweet Sophie when she got there. During
my last spirit reading with my mentor, my Grandma brought up the fact that my dog was
with her and that she looks after her! I had never told anyone that I spoke this to Sophie
or my Grandma. It was amazing and such a validation that they were together and that
they listen to what we say when we talk to them. As a result, I sometimes cry. It’s ok to
cry! There are times when I am telling a message that I start to ‘feel’ things and I get
emotional. I think this is the empath in me but I also think that when I tap into this
energy I am getting a pretty good idea of what they would like for me to say for them.

I have had people tell me that they are afraid of what they will hear and are reluctant to
have a reading. My many readings that I have done have consisted of spirits showing
me memories and passing along messages. I ask that the messages I receive come
from a place of love. I don’t predict the future, instead I feel that my readings are a
loving way to validate that our loved ones are in a beautiful place, that they are still with
us and the love they feel for us continues on the other side. A majority of my spirit
readings usually end in the client hugging me, it is a beautiful moment to share with
someone. For me, giving spirit readings is a way to help people. It may help them find
some sort of peace or possible closure that they are searching for. In all honesty, I am
not sure why I am able to do what I do. I followed my heart and my intuitions and it has
led me down this path. As this path is somewhat new to me, I wanted to share it with
others. This is the reason I started this blog.
